Jocelyn Wong-Trothen is the author of Hungry Little Ghosts, a children’s book writer, and a marketing professional whose storytelling roots began in journalism.
She launched her writing career at the South China Morning Post and Time Out Hong Kong, where she covered culture, lifestyle, and breaking news.
Raised in Hong Kong, a vibrant crossroads of East and West, Jocelyn draws inspiration from her multicultural family and heritage. She wrote her first children’s book during maternity leave as a joyful side project for her future children—then realized how meaningful it was to share those traditions with others.
Today, she writes picture books that introduce young readers to traditional Chinese practices in warm, engaging, and accessible ways.
